"For the last couple of years I have worked with Dave over the net on an album of my songs. As a songwriter who enjoys working in a wide variety of genres it has been an amazing experience. It's a lot like having a world class folk ensemble, jazz band, rock group and symphony orchestra ready to respond to my every suggestion. Not to mention so many helpful ideas and great assistance with production. We've added a few other guest artists for a bit of variety here and there, but they have all been brought in by Dave.

Dave provides a friendly and creative environment in which to work ... and I know about the values of 'creative tension' but think they're a bit over-rated.

It's a veritable one-stop shop at Nachville, friends and neighbours!

I am sure there are some limits to Dave's versatility (Would a request for dubstep qwwali rap song with a rai influence in the middle eight confound him, perhaps?) ... I just haven't discovered them yet. Plus nearly all communication has been by email between the south coast of England and Northern California ... but I bet you won't be able to tell from the finished tracks."

In October, Dave performed the first CD release party for "Step Up" in Davis, California at N Street Cohousing.

I recently won the grand prize in the ACCESS Bags and Cases "Social Media Giveaway" contest. I use an ACCESS case. ACCESS' mission is to offer musicians the finest guitar bags and cases to satisfy their needs at every stage of their musical journey. For more information: www.accessbagsandcases.com  .

I played on my friend Lisa Levine's new CD, "Soulful Shabbat Ruach".  She just released it on CDBaby, so I encourage you to go check it  out:  http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/lisalevine1

I'm thrilled to announce two musicians on my next CD: Ian Sheridan (bass), who played with Jason Mraz from 2002 - 2008, and Victor Bisetti (drums/percussion), who played with Los Lobos from 1990 - 2005 and has also worked with John Lee Hooker. We're starting the recording process this week at my producer, Ronan Chris Murphy's, Veneto West studio.

The “Kickstarter” campaign was a huge success, with the goal surpassed and funding reached within several days. At the end of the 30 day campaign, we had put together over $17,000 towards the new CD! Needless to say, I was staggered by the wonderful support and I am very grateful to all who jumped in with such generosity. There will be updates and info on the Kickstarter page (some of which will be just for “backers”) and I’ll probably put some stuff on Facebook as the project unfolds. All the “rewards” will be set up to go out when the CD is released, since most involve a copy of the CD, and it doesn’t make a lot of sense to ship stuff separately.

A number of people have contacted me to ask if they can still support the project and get the Rewards, even though they missed the deadline for the campaign – and the answer is YES! If you email me individually we can work it out in most cases. For more info on the possible Rewards see the Kickstarter page: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/davenach/crowdfunding-for-dave-nachmanoffs-new-cd

I am very happy to report that great progress has already been made on the new CD! This past November I attended a great conference in Los Angeles called the TAXI Road Rally http://www.taxi.com/transmitter/1012/2010-taxi-road-rally-photos.html, and heard a producer/engineer named Ronan Chris Murphy speak about recording. I’d read his articles before, but was really impressed by the talks that he gave, and in chatting with him later found out that he actually grew up in my hometown in Virginia. I asked him to send me some samples of his work and was impressed with the power, clarity and organic feel of recordings that he sent.

In late March Ronan came up to Davis and we spent a few intense days talking, listening to music and discussing a direction and plan for a CD that will represent me really strongly. Our first round of sessions are scheduled for the third week in April, in Los Angeles at Ronan’s studio (www.venetowest.com) and I’m really excited to be moving forward on this! Keep an eye on my main site (www.davenach.com) and Facebook for more news in the coming weeks.

Last weekend I posted about the campaign to fund my next CD, using a cool site called "Kickstarter." You can check out the campaign here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/davenach/crowdfunding-for-dave-nachmanoffs-new-cd I was staggered that within three days of beginning the campaign I had already reached my $10,000 goal! Thank you SO much for your support! Almost 200 of you have backed the project and now I can say that this CD will become a reality. However, we are not at the finish line yet, with less than three weeks left to go. The way that Kickstarter works, if you don't reach your goal by the deadline (in this case 30 days), you get nothing. So it is best to ask for the lower-end of what you think you will need, and hope that after you hit your goal, people will continue to back your project. To really make this CD as amazing as I hope to do, it will probably require somewhere between $15,000 and $25,000 (manufacturing, artwork, promotion all have to be considered as well as the recording process). So, if you haven't become a backer already, please consider joining the campaign, at whatever level is comfortable for you. I appreciate every donation, whether it's a dollar, or several thousand dollars. You can still be part of the amazing team that is putting this CD together. There have been several rewards that have been up since last weekend, but I also just added a few new rewards, and there will be more coming soon. Here are the latest additions: $50 – You will get a copy of the Sgt. Al poster signed by Al Stewart and myself, plus a physical copy of the CD. (Only one remaining as of this writing - act quick!) $1200 - You will get everything in the "Nach Pak" plus you will get a guitar workshop for you and 9 friends (10 total people, contiguous 48 states only) and you will be listed in the CD credits as an Executive Producer. If you would like to be notified of future rewards, please follow my Facebook pages or the Kickstarter website. Thanks again to all the 'backers' so far, and thanks in advance to all you future backers! I won't let you down. - Dave
BIG NEWS for 2011! Many friends and fans have been asking when I will release another CD (my last real solo CD was 2006, Time Before the Fall). Between family commitments, touring, and projects for others, my own songs have had to wait a bit. However, with Kickstarter I see a way to move forward. Just as I like to get people involved in the music through singing along, clapping along, or co-writing songs in my workshop, Kickstarter will allow my community (friends/family/fans) to be involved in this project! A Kickstarter campaign works something like a public radio and TV fund drive. There are various levels of sponsorship and special "Thank You" rewards that are available when you contribute. I will also be able to send updates and video/audio clips of the project as we go along. Some of the rewards include more direct involvement - such as a visit to the studio during one of the recording sessions.
