Dave Nachmanoff: News

Upcoming solo gigs; gigs with Al - February 27, 2010

On Saturday, February 27th (tonight) I'll perform at the Cotati Cohousing Community in Cotati, California (Sonoma County) for a solo house concert. In early March, I will be touring across the east coast with Al Stewart. Two shows of particular note are March 5th and March 6th, when I'll be opening for him, in addition to supporting him, at Eddie's Attic (Atlanta) and Sanctuary Concerts (NJ), respectively. I'll do some songwriters-in-residence workshops the following week, in addition to performing as part of the Focus Music Concert Series in Rockville, MD at their unitarian church, and performing two private house concerts in New Jersey. All the details are on my Calendar page  - click the link on the left.

In the studio, The Dave-Bruce Alliance, and more "Uncorked" - January 18, 2010

Lots going on in the studio again.  I have been working on some more custom songs, and have a couple of projects that are due out very soon.   The Belles-Silcock family (www.allourboys.com) has their 3rd CD coming out, entitled “Brand New Chapter.”  This one features the boys singing and playing some guitar, even more than the 2nd one did.  Britt Miller’s CD, Juxtapose, is now available on CDBaby, and he has returned safely from his posting in Afghanistan.

“Jersey to California: New CD by ‘The Dave-Bruce Alliance’" has been released!  This album started when Bruce took his lyrics for a single song and asked me to put them to music. From that first "Custom Song" project, Bruce was hooked, and we became like Bernie Taupin & Elton John, with Bruce writing the lyrics in New Jersey, and sending them along with ideas for the sound or style of song to me in California. Some of the songs were even written in the same room, during some of my east coast tour stops. Before long, we'd assembled a group of songs that we both really liked.  Pick it up at http://davenach.com/products.html . Keep in mind that it won't be available at most shows.   Meanwhile, I am hard at work on the Belles-Silcock family’s 4th CD, and producing a CD for singer/songwriter Steve Kahn!

By now, you have likely heard of "Uncorked - Al Stewart Live with Dave Nachmanoff". It's getting nice response at folk radio and in some publications. Thanks to each and every one of you who bought it from me either on my site, or at the shows.  I’m very happy with how it sounds, but it’s been wonderful to see the great response that fans and strangers have had!  For anyone who wants to help spread the word, feel free to send reviews to Amazon.com, CDBaby and iTunes, and of course and “blogs” or websites that people use to look for new music.

Here's the information again:

Upcoming southeastern U.S. November shows - November 1, 2009

I'm headed to the southeastern U.S. in early November with Al Stewart - we'll perform at the Second Fret Coffeehouse in Statesville, NC (I will also open) on Tuesday, November 3rd; Eddie's Attic on Thursday, November 5th; the Sylvia Theatre in York, SC (I will also open) on Friday, November 6th; and the Holly Springs Cultural Center in Holly Springs, NC (I will also open) on Saturday, November 7th.

I'll have "Uncorked" with me, so if you haven't bought online but would like to buy at the shows, you'll be able to. Folk radio seems to like "Uncorked", which is nice to see - it seems the song "Palace of Versailles" is a favorite of many DJs. I did a house concert the other week and Patty D. (the host) joined me in performing the song.

The latest in Nachville - May 30, 2009

It's been a busy few months for Dave Nachmanoff. In late February/early March 2009, Dave did a pretty fast-paced East Coast tour with Al Stewart. His brother Michael sat in on bass in Annapolis again. Dennis, Esther, Ken and Lin put together a great house concert in PA and Al even dropped in. Dave had some fun local gigs in March and early April with a sort of unofficial "band" who did a great job of learning some of his songs in a short time!

Then in April, Dave went to Southern, CA to record some of the Belles-Silcock boys (www.allourboys.com) putting some vocal and instrumental touches on their 3rd CD, "Brand New Day" which should be out soon. Speaking of new releases, Britt Miller's CD is finally finished and available on CDbaby (www.cdbaby.com/brittonmiller), he's currently deployed in Afghanistan, so here's wishing him congrats on the release and safe return!

Finally, in May, Dave wrote a song with participants of the Birds of Song and Clay event at the UC Davis Arboretum, and he just spent an amazing 5 days with the Belles-Silcock family and the boys wrote 27 new songs with him! So, work will begin soon on CD number 4..

As 2008 closes.. - December 30, 2008

The end of 2008 is here! I hope it was a good year for you and that 2009 will be even better. The tour of Holland and Germany is over, and you can read a blog about it at www.davenach.eu , in addition to looking at photos, videos, and listening to audio from radio interviews. We also hope to have more footage on YouTube (www.youtube.com/davenach) and DaveNachExtras.com in the near future. In 2009, I'll continue to be out on the road with Al, in addition to holding songwriting workshops, solo shows, and working on a new record!"

Hey Macarena! - December 30, 2008

I have just released an instrumental dance single (no not 'Joe The Georgian') on iTunes! It's a cover of a very well known song, "Macarena". The producer (Jeff McCullough) did a fantastic job, and for less than a buck you can download it, carry it around in your iPod, and play it at your next party. Let me know what you think. Here's the link:
http://ping.fm/T3yaQ
In addition, I was profiled in the November/December issue of Flatpicking Guitar Magazine (www.flatpick.com). You can purchase a copy at their website or download a PDF at www.flatpickdigital.com .
The editor, Dan Miller, included the tablature version of my song "Midnight Sea" from my "Time Before The Fall" CD, and on the accompanying CD, he also included a bonus track, my instrumental version of "Year of the Cat" from "Wordless
Rhymes".

Solo show on Oct. 31 has been cancelled - October 29, 2008

The tour in Holland is over (for some details visit davenach.eu and read the Blog there), and we are midway through the German tour. We have had some rocking nights, and played a lot of songs we have never played together! Unfortunately, trying to squeeze in a solo show on the 31st proved to be one too many things to do on this run and we have regretfully decided to cancel. The rest of the shows remain unchanged of course. Hopefully I will make it back to Europe for some solo dates in the not too distant future. Of course I am doing some of my own songs at the shows with Al, so please come out to one of those dates if you are in the area.

European Tour has begun - October 6, 2008

I am in Holland now and the big European tour has begun. For anyone who had planned to tune into a live radio broadcast on October 4, I am sorry to say it never happened! We were all ready to go on and there was a power blackout in the neighborhood that shut down the whole area. Anyway, we did play two shows so far in lovely theaters not too far from Amsterdam, and we have two more shows over the next few days. For more info on the tour see www.davenach.eu!

New Stuff on davenachextras.com - August 16, 2008

Summer is winding down, and the summer sale on some of my CDs will be over at the end of this month. I've been doing a lot of outdoor shows with Al Stewart and some fun house concerts. There are fresh video clips and songs on the new www.davenachextras.com site, so check it out if you haven't had a chance. Al's new CD is out now and available from CDBaby! And finally, Al and I are are gearing up for our European tour coming up this Fall (for details see www.davenach.eu)!

Spring is Here! - May 6, 2008

It's been about 6 months since I've updated this section - hmmm... and just over 6 months since Django was born. Lots to report, but I can't fit it all here. More stuff happening on the web - YouTube, MySpace, Facebook (see the Links page for details). Lots of touring since October. Finished the Silcocks 2nd CD "Team Silcock" and working on a 3rd! New photos on the photo page... Gearing up for a European tour in October and November (Germany and Holland). I feel so fortunate to be able to keep making music and to have so many wonderful friends around the world.

Benjamin Django Nachmanoff has arrived! - October 17, 2007

Sophia is now a big sister! Benjamin Django Nachmanoff (known as "Django" to us) was born Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at 1:37 pm PDT. At 19 inches long, he weighed in at 6 lbs, 13 oz.

Jen and Django are doing great! Thanks to everyone for all the good thoughts and wishes. And thanks very much for the wonderful gifts! But we have enough "stuff" here in Nachville -- so buy my CD's instead! :o)

For those who like looking at pictures of babies - you can scan to the bottom my photo page now and see a few pics of the little guy... If you don't like that sort of thing, just don't scroll down that far!
